Natalie Wisco

My passion for helping others developed when I was a child and as an adult, I have spent a great deal of my personal and professional time trying to improve the lives of others.

NATALIE WISCO

“The rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution are multifaceted and purposefully delineated. Yet, over time, the actual protections afforded to criminal defendants have been compromised to accommodate other interests. As a result, advocating for—and successfully defending—someone charged with any criminal offense has become an increasingly intricate process.  Thankfully, Attorney Natalie L. Wisco has always loved complexity.

Natalie grew up reading as much as she possibly could. If she encountered a place, creature, or concept she was unfamiliar with, she would retreat to her father’s study and pore over her family’s encyclopedias before diving back into the story. When she found books she loved, she would re-read them over and over again, trying to absorb all the possible details. She was always encouraged to ask questions and come to her own conclusions. Her father taught her how to think logically. Her mother taught her how to question authority.

Natalie is an observant and creative problem solver who strives to discover possibilities that others miss. She is an expert at reading people, breaking down complex topics, and thinking on her feet, which allows her to adapt easily to her surroundings. Because of these strengths, she has had the privilege to work on many complex criminal cases. In Wisconsin state court, Natalie has defended almost all types of criminal cases, but is best known for her work representing Kyle Rittenhouse at his November 2021 criminal jury trial.

While most private criminal defense attorneys try 1-3 cases in front of a jury per year, Ms. Wisco tried 7 cases to a jury in 2023 alone—five of which she obtained Not Guilty verdicts on one or more counts. In federal trial court, Natalie has defended cases involving fraud, terrorism, firearms, drug conspiracies, carjackings, and criminal safety compliance violations.

While Natalie is primarily a trial attorney, she has always dedicated a portion of her work to criminal appeals. One of Ms. Wisco’s proudest moments as an appellate attorney happened in only her second year of practice when the state could only respond to her appellate argument by admitting that Attorney Wisco was right, and provided no further argument.”

Attorney Natalie L. Wisco received her law degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Before attending law school, she received her undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa. During law school, Attorney Wisco focused her studies on criminal litigation and appellate writing and advocacy, earning a specialized certificate in Litigation Practice. Since graduating, she has focused her career on trial and appellate-level state and federal criminal defense. She represents clients charged with all types of crimes, including drug offenses, firearms offenses, financial crimes, computer crimes, assault and battery, domestic violence offenses, alcohol-related offenses, property crimes, and sexual offenses. She also represents clients in traffic matters, restraining orders, revocation proceedings, and parents in CHIPS actions. Attorney Wisco is best recognized for her role in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial, where she assisted in securing Not Guilty verdicts on all counts charged.

The criminal justice system is very confusing—even to those who have had prior exposure to it—so it is important to Attorney Wisco that her clients understand what is going on substantively, and procedurally, while they are involved in the court system. She prioritizes discussing goals with prospective clients from the outset and all actions she takes are done with the client’s goals in mind. Attorney Wisco is known for her rapport with clients and ability to handle difficult personalities. She is a creative problem-solver and has had substantial success in both trial and plea cases by thinking outside the box and employing novel defense strategies.

Attorney Wisco is admitted to practice before the State of Wisconsin, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. She is an active member of both the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Racine County Bar Association.
